5 Things to Buy in the Winter Sales

The Spring fashion is starting to hit the stores, which means it’s time for one of the most fun sales of the year….. the winter sales. I always love shopping in the winter sales, as I feel like so many of the products I pick up, I often wear for a good chunk of the year (upside of living somewhere on the cooler side!)

I have made some of my favourite ever purchases in the winter sales. Last year I picked up a khaki parka in Dotti, that was reduced from $79 to $30. So far, it’s been one of my most worn coats, and I really must do a blog post on it soon! I also picked up some pretty knitwear from Forever New, that I’ve been wearing year around. Today I wanted to share with you my 5 “Must Have” buys from this years winter sales.

Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are on trend year around, and can be worn no matter the season. They look super cute whether paired with jeans year around, or with sundresses in the summer. I look for pairs with a low heel in colours such as tan or black that I know I can pair with many different outfits.

Under Layers

Merino layers are one of my favourite winter pieces, and now is the time to be picking these up for next winter or for wearing during the cooler transitional months. I will quite often layer a merino top under a faux fur vest in the cooler months of Spring. Many stores have 50% of merino tops at the moment, so I’ll be stocking up as I wear these bad boys nearly everyday in the winter. Did I mention I absolutely hate being cold? Merino solves that problem!

Coats & Parkas

I am a sucker for buying new coats, and while I have a million already in my closet, there are always pretty ones that pop up and make me feel like I need to adopt them into my wardrobe. Now is the perfect time to be purchasing coats for next winter – look ¬†for classic styles that won’t go out of date such as a double breasted pea coat, or a simple woollen coat. Another jacket style I love is the parka, as this style of jacket is extremely versatile throughout the seasons. Many styles have a removable fur or woollen inner, making them the perfect addition to your transitional wardrobe.

Knitwear

Right after buying coats, I love buying knitwear. I’ll look for pieces that are of a medium warmth, that can either be worn on their own, or layered under coats or vests if it’s a little chillier during the transition months. Light knitwear is also a great option for wearing in the summer on those cooler nights.

Many leather jackets come on sale after winter, so now is the perfect time to pick one up to add to your wardrobe. I love the classic biker style, as it’s timeless and always looks chic, whether it’s styled up or down.
