Trilogy Cleansing Balm Review

Trilogy Cleansing Balm Review

If you were a reader of my old blog, then you will remember how much I loved the brand Trilogy. It’s one of New Zealand’s most well-known and well regarded skincare brands, and for good reason too. I used to use a lot of their products, and recently re-discovered my love for the brand through this, the Trilogy Makeup Be Gone Cleansing Balm. This has been sitting in the bathroom cupboard for the last few months and, admittedly, I had sort of forgotten about it. When I ran out of my regular makeup remover, I decided to start using this product…. and fell in love with it all over again.

The Trilogy Cleansing Balm is a solid makeup remover that’s designed to remove all traces of makeup and leaves the skin feeling clean and cleansed. It’s a bit like oil cleansing, but with a balm instead of a liquid oil. It’s a girl’s best friend for making makeup removal easy, whether it’s your every day light makeup or heavier full coverage makeup.

Freshly scented with ylang ylang, freesia, and cedarwood, this cleansing balm also contains a myriad of natural ingredients including; Mango Seed Butter to soften and smooth the skin, Coconut Oil to heal and repair, Sunflower Seed Oil to calm and balance the skin, and Certified Rosehip Oil which Trilogy is famous for.

Trilogy Cleansing Balm Review

The Trilogy Cleansing Balm is so easy to use, simply scoop a little out of the jar and massage it on to your face. It’s quite a strange consistency, and I could liken it the most to like wax in a candle. I find it works best if you run it in between your fingers first to warm the product up, before applying on to the skin. I just massage the balm into the skin gently, focusing on the heaviest makeup areas (eg lips and eyes).

I remember the first time I ever tried this product, I tried it with a stubborn bright pink lipstick. The lipstick went all over my face and I was a little worried about whether it would come off my skin or not! Amazingly this balm removes ALL TRACES OF MAKEUP….. even that stubborn lipstick!

When it’s on the skin, the balm does feel quite heavy – almost like you’ve smeared butter on your face. However, as soon as you wipe your face clean with a warm facecloth all traces of makeup and the balm are gone. Skin is left looking and feeling clean, and not at greasy or oily. I haven’t had any breakouts from using this product, and I love that it removes all traces of my makeup…… waterproof mascara, bright lipstick, and full coverage foundation. Cleansing after using this product is optional, however I always do, just because I feel like my whole skincare routine is out if I don’t!

You can purchase the Trilogy Cleansing Balm from any Trilogy retailer on online here. It retails for $38.90
