Tier For Teens Steam, Wash & Spritz
Over the past couple of months, I’ve been trying out the new skincare range Tier For Teens. Brought to you by renowned NZ skincare company, Nellie Tier, Tier for Teens is designed for teenagers and younger people. There really is a lack of quality natural skincare for younger people and teens, and it’s for this reason that Tier For Teens was born. All of the ingredients used in the range are pure and natural, and the products are all hand blended and hand poured (check out their Instagram for some seriously impressive pouring skills!). Each product is designed to help balance the skin and prevent and fight breakouts and other hormonal-related skin issues.
Now it’s been nearly ten years since I was a teenage (eek!) but I was really keen to try these products out. I don’t think there is such a thing as ‘teenage’ skincare, as really it depends on skin conditions rather than age. I’m not quite at the serious age-fighting stage yet, so I still opt to use a mix of skin balancing skincare with a couple of anti-aging items thrown in. What really appealed to me about this skincare range was how light upon the skin everything was. As you get older, skincare seems to get heavier, and I don’t think it’s always necessary, especially for during the day. All of the Tier For Teens products are light and easily absorbed into the skin.
There’s six products in the range, so instead of one mammoth review post, I’ll be reviewing three products per post. Let’s start with cleansing products
LIQUORICE AND CALENDULA STEAM
These Liquorice and Calendula Steam Bags are toted as one of the key products in the Tier for Teens range. These steam bags contain 11 natural herbs that are all included for their calming and healing properties. The idea is that you place boiling water in a bowl, place in one of the steam bags, and let it infuse for around ten minutes. Then pop a towel over your head and allow your face to steam for about 15 minutes. This steaming process helps to unblock pores and soften sebum in the pores. This dirt and congestion is then washed away when you cleanse.
These bags smell really good, and while I totally get the idea behind steaming, unfortunately it’s not something I find easy to fit into my skincare routine. 15 minutes is an awful long time to spend steaming you face, and while I understand the benefits, it’s not something I find myself doing often, or I steam for a much shorter time. RRP $40.00
LEMON BALM AND WHITE WILLOW WASH
This incredibly light, gently foaming wash comes in a 130ml pump bottle. It’s a thin gel-like formula that is designed to remove excess oil, dirt, and other impurities from the skin during the cleansing process. This cleanser is incredibly gentle and it feels lovely on the skin. I like to apply around 5-6 pumps of this cleanser onto damp skin, and then use my Remington Facial Brush to work the product into the skin. It doesn’t foam up much at all so if you are used to foaming cleansers like I am, you may find this takes some time to get used to.
The formula is created through a blend of essential oils which are designed to help balance the skin, whilst preventing skin issues. Aloe Vera and Lemon Balm work to calm the skin, while Lavender and Tea Tree help to fight bacteria that can cause acne. Key ingredient, Willow Bark helps to clear dead skin cells and clears pores. This wash really does have all the natural ingredients to help prevent and calm troubled skin, and I can really see why it’s perfect for younger people or those with congested skin.
Personally, I really do like this wash and I’m currently using it as part of my morning routine. I love how light it is and how soft it leaves my skin feeling after I use it, and this is definitely one of my favourites from the range. RRP $29.00
SAGE AND LEMONGRASS SPRITZ
Lemongrass is one of my absolute favourite smells and the scent of this spritz is absolutely delicious! This lovely light spritz is used as a toner – after cleansing and before moisturising. The spritz contains Lemongrass to balance the skin, Lavender to calm, and Green Tea to reduce inflammation, as well as other skin-loving and balancing natural ingredients.
I find this spritz really provides a hydration hit, and it creates a lovely base before applying moisturiser. If my skin is feeling a little oily, I’ll just use this and I find it gives me the hydration I need. It’s also very refreshing on the skin, and quite often I’ll spray a little on my face during the day when my skin needs a little pep. I do really like this product and I’m really impressed with how the bottle sprays as it creates a lovely fine mist that covers the face evenly and lightly. RRP 26.00
