This midi skirt has to be one of my absolute favourite items of clothing at the moment, and I’m dying for some warmer weather to wear it! It’s supposed to be summer, but we’ve only had a handful of warm days so far (as you can probably tell from my lack of suntan 😂), so I’m hoping for some sunny days soon so I can wear some of my summer wardrobe. The issue with most sunny days in Dunedin, is that they are also windy and I’ve spent far too many years of my life trying to keep a mini skirt down in the Dunedin wind! This year I’ve gotten rid of most of my mini skirts and replaced them with a more wind appropriate option – the midi skirt.
I picked up this skirt from Dotti about a month ago, and I was lucky to score 30% off, meaning it was only about $38! (and it’s still on sale!) It’s such a beautiful skirt, with a slightly shorter lining, and a soft mesh-like overlay. I’ve been really liking the midi style skirts lately, however I feel I have to be a little picky about which ones I buy, as being slightly shorter and petite, some lengths can tend to swamp a smaller frame. This one gives the illusion of being slightly shorter than it really is, with the shorter lining. The fitted waistband also means it looks really put together with a tucked in top and the skirt gives the body a nice shape.
If there’s one colour that looks good with black, it’s electric blue, and I think this blouse from Glassons pairs beautifully with this skirt. I’ve also paired the skirt with blush and grey tops and these too look beautiful and feminine. Black really does go with anything so I feel like there a million different ways you can style a skirt like this! 🖤
FITTING NOTES: I bought this skirt in a size 6 and it’s just a tad too big. They didn’t have a 4 and I loved it so much, so I bought it anyway. The Glassons blouse is also a size 6 and it fits perfectly
