bee yü Presents Hailwood & Carlson

Last night I went to an event hosted by  bee yü, which was part of iD Fashion Week. Located upstairs at Vault 21, this awesome converted warehouse was the perfect location for a fashion and beauty event and they really knocked it out of the park. Hosted by Rachel Smalley, they talked all things bee yü and Manuka Honey, before Adrian Hailwood and Tanya Carlson spoke about their newest designs. Both of these designers are showing at iD this year, and both have quite different styles, so it was interesting to hear from them first hand what inspired them to make their collections.

I loved Hailwoods pieces, and that 50’s style prom dress with the floral bomber jacket is seriously gorgeous and was my favourite outfit of the night. I’m also loving the new range of bags that Hailwood have created, and I have my eye on that gorgeous soft grey one!

Tanya Carlson then spoke about her pieces she had custom designed for the likes of Lisa Carrington and Sarah Walker. She also created the black Star Wars dress for Kate Rodgers (who is a local TV reporter) to wear to the opening of the newest Star Wars movie. It was so well designed, and even had pockets that made the dress sit out to look like a cape!

Overall it was a great night, and bee yü did a wonderful job of hosting a fun and interesting event. It was actually the only iD Fashion Week event I decided to attend this year as I just don’t find the shows as exciting as I used to.  I’ve attended the shows for the last five years, and each year it just seems much of the same. It’s always the same designers at the railway show, and there’s nothing making it fresh and exciting. I had put down to go as media to the Emerging Designers show, which showcases some of the upcoming designers from universities around the world (and is a little more exciting), however iD mucked me around with tickets and in the end I just didn’t bother going.

Here’s what I wore to the event last night. This is actually my first time wearing this beautiful Forever New dress. I picked this up on sale a few months back and I love how floaty it is. The long sleeves are also great for the cooler months, and the lace up detail in the front is very on trend now. I paired it with my beloved Kmart booties and my Rebecca Minkoff bag.
