My Easy Halloween Costume: Halloween 2017

Easy Halloween Costume : Mary Poppins

While Halloween isn’t as popular here as it is in the States, it’s definitely gaining momentum year after year. I remember when I was a kid, Halloween was something that was never really celebrated and the stores never really had a lot of Halloween costumes or decorations. I went trick or treating only once as a kid (and of course I dressed as a princess fairy), but now it’s quite common to see kids in New Zealand out trick and treating.

This year it seems even more popular than ever, with stores like Kmart and the Warehouse full of cool costumes and decorations. I went to a party this year, so I thought I would share my outfit as it was seriously such an easy Halloween costume! I wanted something that wouldn’t cost much (as this girl’s just bought a house, so I’m now officially poor 😂 ), and that I could create using what I have in my wardrobe. Then inspiration hit me….. Mary Poppins! I love Disney, so this was the perfect costume and it’s so easy!

For this outfit, all I wore was a white shirt a black midi skirt, black tights, and black boots. I then added a black hat (a fedora was all I had), my umbrella, an oversized bag, and a little red bow. Too easy, and everything was in my wardrobe. The red bow was bought for last years Saw costume and was only $2 from the dollar store.

I think this is such a fun and easy Halloween costume for someone who wants something simple, instantly recognisable, and won’t cost too much. It’s also a nice alternative to darker Halloween costumes if this is something you aren’t into.

Did you dress up for Halloween this year? What did you wear? Let me know below!
