The $20 Maxi Dress You Need In Your Wardrobe

I am seriously obsessed with maxi dresses at the moment. While I used to be all about the above-the-knee dresses, as I get older I’m embracing the more flowy and easy to wear styles. I’ve already written before about my love for maxi dresses at this time of the year, as they hide the fact that I’m still looking more winter white than summer bronzed, and if I’ve forgotten to shave my legs – then nobody knows! They are also great if it’s a little on the chilly side and you want to wear a dress, but don’t want to freeze!

I was shopping in Kmart a couple of weeks ago and came across this maxi dress and immediately fell in love. I’m a sucker for stripes, and the navy and white is a classic combo (while also not being another black item in my wardrobe!) I’m not 100% sure if you’d deem this to be a maxi or a midi, as it’s slightly longer in back and shorter in front. It has the most beautiful wrap style, with a little tie at the waist, and a gorgeous V-neck. The top of the V-neck closes with a little clasp, making it really easy to get on and off, and the straps are adjustable too (which is always a win!)

I purchased this maxi dress in a size 8 and it fits me well, thanks to the adjustable straps. I literally have them as tight as they can go! The tie around the waist also means the dress can be pulled in a little if you are on the petite side.

Due to the wrap style, the dress does have a tendency to split right up to the waist which isn’t so good if it’s windy! I actually placed a couple of small stitches at the bottom of the dress where it crosses over, to prevent the dress from flying open and showing the world my undies! You can’t tell that I’ve done this, and the dress hangs just as well as it did originally.

The reason I wanted to share this dress, is because it was only $22! Which is a total bargain for such a stylish dress. The wrap style is right on trend at the moment, as is the maxi/midi length. In my opinion it’s a versatile summer dress that can be styled up or down! If you’re not a fan of the navy, it also comes in a very pretty rusty red!
