You may have noticed it’s been a little quiet over here on the blog lately. I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything we have to do with the house etc, so blogging kind of took a back seat for a couple of weeks there. The last thing I felt like late at night was writing a blog post, or posting to social media so I just decided to take a little bit of a break…. and it was totally for the best as I’m back and feeling much more inspired again. It’s funny how something can become such a chore, then you have a short break from it and it becomes fun again!
I think it’s so important for all of us (bloggers or not) to have a bit of a break from this crazy thing we call the internet. While social media and blogs etc are absolutely wonderful, it can also get a bit all-consuming and every now and then we need a bit of a breather. I know quite a few people who have regular social media detoxes and I think it really is a good idea. I’m going to try and make a point of keeping my social media and online activity to the weekdays only, allowing me the weekends to switch off and do other things. Let’s see if it lasts!
I used to do favourite posts all the time, and I just realised recently that I haven’t done one in SO LONG! They are always so much fun to write, so I figured a November Favourites post was well and truely overdue! Here’s five of my favourite things that I have been loving this month!
Taylor Swift Reputation
I have been waiting for the new album for so long and Tay-Tay did not disappoint! I bought the new album the day after it came out, and I’ve been listening to it non-stop since. I know some people don’t like the new Taylor, and she really has said goodbye to her country roots, but this CD is just so fun. It’s very bassy and is full of catchy songs, and it’s the perfect CD for listening to in the car. While I don’t think it’s quite as good as my all-time fave “Red”, this CD is a very close second and I think some of the songs are maybe even more memorable!
My favourite tracks are “Ready For It”, “Call It What You Want”, “Don’t Blame Me” and “Delicate”.
Popsockets seem to be so popular over in the States but haven’t really taken off here in NZ and I have no clue why! If you are wondering what the hell a Popsocket is, it’s a little circular sticker that sits on the back of your phone case and you can pull it out to extend it. This allows you to hold your phone much easier when taking photos or making calls. It also means you can sit your phone upright without it falling over, so is great when you are watching movies or YouTube. I’ve seen Popsockets retailing for $30 which is insane for a tiny plastic sticker! I got mine off Ebay and paid $1.88 NZD including free shipping. Score! They come in a whole range of pretty designs so you can find something that matches your style and phone case.
Notebooks are one of those things I could buy a million of as I’m always using them! I personally love the notebooks from Kmart as they have cute designs and they are so cheap. I paid only $3 for this A4 notebook, which is such good value as something similar at KikkiK would be about $20! Plus, they have a good range of sizes and styles. Personally, I love the spiral bound notebooks as they stay open much easier! This rose gold notebook is just one of the few I’ve been using lately.
Virtuous Skincare Skin Repair Cream*
Both the boyfriend and I have been absolutely loving this multi-use cream lately. I wrote a full blog post on it here, and to date it’s one of my favourite products I’ve tried so far this year! I’ve been using it on my face (which is feeling so dry lately!), as well as on my legs and arms where my skin has felt itchy and irritated as a result of hay fever. I feel like a tube of this in your bathroom cupboard is an absolute necessity!
Cotton On Denim
When it comes to denim, I’ve always been a loyal Jeans West girl, but lately I have been loving the range of denim that Cotton On have to offer. In fact, I’ve pretty much been loving EVERYTHING that Cotton On seem to offer! I’ve picked up a pair of distressed denim shorts that I’m actually obsessed with, and I plan to live in these come summer. Since I’m a girl on a budget now (living that home-owner poor life 😂), I’m loving the good quality and affordable price tag that comes with the Cotton On clothing!
