I feel like a button down shirt is the most perfect all season item. No matter whether you are currently in Summer or Winter, it’s likely that a shirt is currently a wardrobe staple for you. They are also items that are so easy to wear, and I’ve found myself grabbing for one most days lately. You’ve probably noticed that if you’ve been following along with my fashion content or Instagram lately – there’s been shirts everywhere!
One of my favourite shirts I own is my denim shirt. While many of us call it denim, they are also technically called chambray shirts. Chambray fabric is a denim-look fabric, but is much softer and less structured than denim. This softer feel makes it perfect for shirts or dresses, while still having that denim wash look we all love.
One of the things I love about the denim shirt, is how many different ways it can be styled. Today I thought I’d share with you, my favourite 3 ways to style a denim shirt
Quite possibly my favourite way to wear a denim shirt is the tuck. I simply tuck only the front part of your shirt into to my jeans, and leave the rest untucked. This gives a really casual yet stylish look, and it also is a super flattering way to wear a shirt. I like to tuck the absolute middle of my shirt in, so I just grab the row of buttons on the shirt and tuck it tight into the front of my jeans near the jean button. I then just pull the bits to side out a little to loosen them off. Too easy!
GIRLY & CHIC
Take a slightly more structured shirt and a soft flowy skirt, and you have the most perfect chic ensemble for a Summer day! I love how these two pieces pair together to create a stylish yet incredibly simple outfit. I simply just tuck my denim shirt in to my skirt – of course it looks best if it’s high-waisted!
This is such a fun look for summer – simply button your shirt down to where you want the tie to be and then knot the two shirt tails. You can knot it as high or as low as you like, depending on how much skin you want to show. I absolutely love this look, and it’s just a fun twist on a classic piece.
