Pregnancy Diary: Week 36

Pregnancy Diary Week 36

I can’t believe week 36 was my last full week of being pregnant! It feels like such a long time ago we found out, but at the same time it really feels like it’s flown…. especially the third trimester! If you missed my last post, baby boy is being born via C-section at 37 weeks, so while he is considered full-term, he is on the earlier side of full term.

I have to be honest, I’m so relieved they decided to do a planned c-section as it’s made it a lot easier for me to handle mentally. I feel like knowing a date makes things so much easier to prepare for – you just turn up to the hospital on the day and meet baby. I like the fact that I don’t have to spend the next few weeks stressing about every little pain or “funny” thing I feel and wondering if I’m going into labour – especially living so far out of town! While I know a c-section isn’t for everyone, I’ve never really cared about how I give birth as long as he gets here safe and sound, and I feel like this way he is in the safest place getting here.

This week has been super busy getting everything last minute done. I’ve treated myself to a couple of last minute “baby beauty prep” things, like getting my brows and hair done. I went even blonder this time and I absolutely love how it looks, the hairdresser managed to get the perfect shade of ashy blonde that I was after! Having my hair done definitely makes me feel a bit better, and I don’t know when I’ll next get a chance!

On Wednesday I had my pre-admission appointment at the hospital, and they did all the vitals and gave me the two tablets I need to take before the operation. We have to get there at 7.30am on the morning of the operation, and all going well, we should be in theatre by 8.30am. I’m so happy it’s first thing in the morning as it means less stressing time for this mama!

I’d love to say I spent the week relaxing and getting ready for baby, but in between running errands and picking up last minute bits (like nappies, we had NO nappies, oops!), I’ve actually been flat out trying to get on top of all my work before I finish up. It’s meant some very long days in front of the computer, but it’s also been extremely satisfying getting everything done. I had grand plans this week to chill and watch lots of movies and eat lots of chocolate, and while I did get a couple of movies in (and yes, quite a bit of chocolate), it wasn’t quite as chilled as I had been hoping for. But that’s okay.

I also had plans to take some maternity photos this week, and unfortunately the dress that I had picked to wear for the pictures basically doesn’t do up anymore and has major gaping areas across the belly…. so maybe I’ll just take some nice pictures wearing it once baby is here instead 😂 I guess I’m lucky in terms of having this blog, that I’ve got a nice little series of photos already to document this whole baby journey!

My next pregnancy update will be baby’s birth story, and while I’d love to say this will be up soon, I really have no idea how long it will take me to get up! Here’s hoping everything goes smoothly, and I’m back in no time!

How many weeks? 37 – final few days now!
Size of baby? According to the app he’s the size of a swiss chard.
Total weight gain? Up 9kg now…. hoping this is mostly baby etc as I don’t feel like I’ve put on much myself, fingers crossed!
Cravings? Nothing, I feel thirsty ALL THE TIME though. Okay and maybe still chocolate….
What I miss? Still the runny eggs…
What I’m looking forward to? C-Day! Meeting the little fella  and enjoying my birthday this weekend!
