Styling a Casual LBD Three Ways!

3 ways to style a casual LBD

One item every woman should have in her wardrobe is a little black dress, and at the moment I am loving the casual little black dress! Let’s face it, I don’t find myself at many fancy events these days, so having a little black dress that I can wear out for lunch with the fam and then also can dress up for date night, is just what I’m after!

That dress is the Fifi Frill Dress and it’s a beautiful straight black dress with a frill hem. It’s a slightly oversized fit that is flattering through the body and in length, and would look beautiful on basically everyone! It’s a very versatile dress that looks great worn alone or with accessories and works for a number of occasions. Today I thought I’d share with you three ways I’m styling a casual LBD for Spring!

First up, we have a casual way to style the dress. This is probably the most popular way I’d wear it, as it’s cute and takes all of two seconds to throw on. I would simply pair it with a denim jacket (a khaki or coloured denim jacket would be super cute too!) and a pair of booties. As the weather warms up, you could also wear it with sandals, slides or ballet flats.

The second way is to just pop on a belt. I never used to wear a lot of belts, but I can really appreciate now how they can change the entire effect of an outfit! I love a black belt paired with the black dress, black clutch and black shoes, but you could also go with tan or brown shoes/belt/bag.

This belt is a Karen Walker belt that’s no longer available and I’m unable to find anything similar, but you could go with any black waist belt – just make sure it’s a good fit, otherwise the excess end will stick out!

The third way is the most dressy, yet still super easy to throw on and head out of the door. I’ve paired it with a longline waterfall jacket which adds a little more warmth for the slightly cooler days that Spring throws our way. I’ve also added a fedora and booties to accessorise (you guys know how much I love my hats and boots!), and of course you can keep the belt on too! This would also look gorgeous with a pair of wedges or heels for a pretty date night look!

As you can see, this dress is such a versatile piece in your wardrobe and can be worn year-around (just pop on a pair of tights and a leather jacket for winter). It’s one of those dresses that you will just wear and wear, and the fact that its 95% cotton means that it will wash and wear really well (an absolute must have if you have kids!). It’s also super comfortable to wear and since it’s black it literally goes with any colour cardi, jacket, or accessories. I know I’m going to be thrashing this dress this year!

Fit tips: I am usually a size 6 and I am wearing a size 6. This style is slightly oversized, so size down if you prefer a more classic fit. I am 163cm (5’3″), and this dress comes to just on knee length on me. Outershell have a really clear sizing guide with full measurements for each item!
