Best of Beauty 2017

Best in Beauty 2017

Every year for the past couple of years now, I’ve done a “Best of Beauty” post, sharing my fave beauty finds from the year (you can check out my 2016 one here). You all seem to really like these posts, so I figured I’d do another one this year too. All five of these beauty products were ones I discovered and fell in love with during 2017, and have been using on repeat.

All of the products are natural and they are all super easy to get here in New Zealand. I’ve left links below each one where you can learn more about the product, either via a blog review or on the brands website.

What products were your favourites during 2017? Let me know below, as I’m always on the hunt for new products and brands!

Virtuous Skincare Skin Repair Cream*

Okay, you are probably sick of me talking about this product now, but it’s honestly changed my skin this year. Both the boyfriend and I absolutely love this stuff, and it’s what we both use on our faces morning and night. This cream has helped my blemished skin so much, and I highly recommend you try it if you are suffering from acne. It’s a super gentle cream, that not only works as a moisturiser, but on rashes and other skin conditions too. My skin slurps this stuff up, meaning that it never feels greasy to the touch. It sits really well under makeup too, making it my absolute go-to moisturiser! Read my full review here.

Lily Lolo Pedal to the Medal Eyeshadow Palette

2017 was the year I discovered Lily Lolo, an awesome natural makeup brand from the UK. This eyeshadow palette has quickly become one of my favourite Lily Lolo products, and my go-to eyeshadow palette. Containing 10 complementary shades, there is a good mix of shimmers and mattes, to create both daytime and nighttime looks. I love the matte brown as a crease shade and the gold colour is a stunning lid shade. I find this palette is so versatile, and I can create so many different looks using just these colours. Find out more about this palette and buy it here.

Antipodes Healthy Lipsticks*

In 2017 Antipodes became my absolute favourite lipstick brand, with their gorgeous Healthy Lipsticks. This is a collection of 12 stunning shades, each named after a geographical feature of New Zealand. There are a great mix of colours, from nudes and subtle pinks, to bright reds, oranges, and a stunning deep plum. These lipsticks are extremely moisturising and feel so nice on the lips. They don’t smudge or transfer, and the colour is extremely pigmented and long wearing. If you are after a natural lipstick that is reasonably priced and wears well, then you can’t go past these. Vapour Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation

This stuff is expensive, but I promise you it’s worth it. The Vapour Soft Focus Foundation has been my go-to foundation this year as it looks so natural on the skin. It’s definitely more on the dewy side (which I personally love), but this may not work for those with oiler skin. If you have normal/dry/combo skin, then I have a feeling you will love this foundation. It feels really light on the skin, yet offers a generous medium coverage. It’s great at covering redness and evening out the skin tone. I’m actually starting to run low on my bottle, so I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one. I buy mine here and for reference I am shade 115.

Madara Colour & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner

Okay, so this is technically two products, but these hair care products have  seriously saved my hair this year. Getting my hair lightened means that it has felt a lot drier and a little more difficult to manage, so towards the middle of the year I purchased this shampoo and conditioner duo. I hadn’t used any Madara products before, and opted for the Colour and Shine version as I wanted, well, to add Colour and Shine to my hair. This combo is seriously amazing, and leaves my hair feeling silky soft and really easy to manage. For smaller sized bottles, they seem to last a long time, and even with my fairly thick hair, I only need a small amount to get a good lather going with the shampoo. If you are in the market for a new haircare products that leave your hair feeling moisturised, soft, and shiny (but not greasy), then I highly recommend you give these a try! I buy mine here (shampoo) and here (conditioner)
